So! Interesting little tidbit about Oswald: as a member of the Cartoon Wasteland, Oswald is firmly aware that he is a cartoon, and that he was a cartoon star, and he sees Walt Disney as a father figure (it's a bit of a strained relationship). But importantly, Oswald is familiar with other cartoons.

For the sake of simplicity, the things Oswald is canonically most knowledgeable about center around the Mickey Mouse cartoons and the main Disney animated filmography, and he's less likely to recognize things in modern Disney or obscure canons such as books. But, if you would rather have Oswald not be familiar with your canon at all, just put a comment here and let me know. 

Otherwise, if you could also comment here to confirm if you're alright with him being aware of your canon, that would be much appreciated!
